Garnet is the name of a whole group of stones that can be found in a wide range of colors. The price estimation of any garnet depends altogether on shading, size and rarity related to its type. Garnets may range from green, orange, and yellow to earthier sepia tints; while dark red is the most widely recognized, reasonable and customary shade of the garnet, they are mostly available in every shade, 7.5-8 in mohs scale used for measuring hardness of stones. These gemstones have been valued by humanity for hundreds of thousands of years and are specified most broadly in Noah Ark’s story. Garnets in common colors originate from India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, South Africa and the United States, while the more intriguing garnet hues are mined in East Africa and Russia. The garnet is the January birthstone in the US.
